Frustrated by the traditional approach to pursuing an acting career, which often focused solely on taking classes and getting headshots, Shannon saw the need for something deeper, more comprehensive, and truly transformative for aspiring actors looking to make their dreams a reality.
The vicious cycle of hearing “you need IMDB credits, a good headshot, an agent, and then you’ll be on your way to becoming a working actor” was something Shannon could not stand. There was no direction or help for actors-including herself in the beginning and decided it was time for change.
Shannon came from a small town in Florida with no opportunities for growth in the entertainment industry. Other than theatre and school, she couldn’t find any classes or movies to take part in that would move the needle forward towards becoming a professional working actor.
With a passion for the arts and a heart to share what she learned over the years of being a working actor, Shannon knew there was something special she could give back to the acting community. She was on a mission to fill the gaps in the entertainment industry that no one else would dare to.
Thus, The Bright Stars Greenroom was born!

Retreats For Actors
In 2019, just before the world was turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic, I took a leap of faith and invested in myself for the very first time. I attended a two-day retreat in Arizona, excited by the promise of transformative experiences and newfound connections. I had heard so many stories about retreats being magical spaces for growth and inspiration, and I was eager to be a part of that journey.
However, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. As the event unfolded, I found myself feeling deprived and frustrated. The retreat had been marketed with grand promises, but what I experienced fell short of those expectations. The hype surrounding the event overshadowed the actual content, and I left feeling as if I had been misled. Instead of feeling empowered, I felt disheartened and questioning my decision to attend.
This experience became a turning point for me. I realized there was a significant gap in the market for retreats that genuinely delivered on their promises—spaces where participants could feel truly valued, supported, and inspired. I wanted to create a retreat that didn’t just meet expectations but exceeded them, where actors could come together in a nurturing environment to hone their skills and gain real-world experience.
Although I was thinking about creating the ultimate acting business retreat since that disappointing experience, I never acted on it in fear of the “what if’s” and “no guarantees”. It wasn’t until the beginning of 2024 when I was sexually harassed by my primary care doctor that something clicked. I knew I was being called to help others on a deeper level and was excited for what was on the horizon.
Motivated by my own experiences, I set out to design The Bright Stars Greenroom as a sanctuary for aspiring actors. I envisioned a place where talent could not only refine their craft but also gain the business acumen necessary for navigating the elusive entertainment industry. A retreat where participants would leave with practical tools, on-set experience, unwavering confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose. The vision was all about helping give actors the tools they needed for success!
